Wayne appeared as a co-star most recently on the CW's RIVERDALE spin-off, KATY KEENE.
Wayne plays Lester Darin, a Broadway director who visits Kevin Keller's Chelsea premiere of his new play, "La Bonne Nuit." Without giving away spoilers, Lester gets himself in some trouble over the course of a few scenes. The series debuts in February and Wayne appears in episode 10. This episode was directed by the amazing and talented Alex Pillai. (So great to work with!) Everyone at Silvercup Studios was supportive and the hard work everyone is doing will surely show up on this fun new series for the CW. |
The Romper Room |
When Wayne was four years old, his mom, Pat, would wake him at 4 am and get him dressed in various 1970's sweater vests and plaid pant suit combos to take him to a sound stage in Philadelphia to be on a children's television show called, THE ROMPER ROOM.
It was a three camera set-up with hot studio lights and no audience except anxious parents waiting in the darkness for their kid to do something stupid. Wayne loved being on television and would later appear on another kid's television program, THE MAGIC DOOR, in Chicago. He was on the same set that Siskel and Ebert shot their famous AT THE MOVIES episodes and would often run into them in the halls of WBBM. In addition to kid's television, Wayne has appeared in small roles on various soap operas, police procedurals, comedies, dramas and even a few documentaries. |
All My Children |
Wayne's first role in an adult television program was as the delivery man for Erica Kane's divorce papers on ALL MY CHILDREN. After the rehearsal, the director pulled Wayne to the side and said, "Look at her." Confused, Wayne said, "I am looking at her."
"No," the director said, "look at the dress she's wearing, she looks good. Flirt with her a little." When action was called, Wayne took a deep breath, rang the fake doorbell and waited for Susan Lucci to open the door. When she did, Wayne took the direction and did his best to flirt with Erica Kane. The scene wrapped and the director said, "That's what I was talking about!" |
The Magic Door |
While living in Chicago, Wayne auditioned for and was cast in THE MAGIC DOOR, an Emmy award-winning children's television program sponsored by the Board of Rabbis and shown on the CBS affiliate WBBM. It ran on Sunday mornings for many years and consistently won Emmy awards for children's programming.
Wayne has played a screenwriting chimpanzee, a weather wizard, a old Rabbi who plays the shofar, the little brother and many other roles. He was also the voice and operator of the Muppet-designed, Mazel, when Mazel's main operator (seen here) was not on the show. |
