Arnold Schwarzenegger said, "Training gives us an outlet for suppressed energies created by stress and thus tones the spirit just as exercise conditions the body."
When I decided to take on training with the Noom app in November last year, I was just over 185 lbs. and my blood pressure was off the charts.
I thought cutting back on salt was going to be enough to get those numbers down to within a normal range.
Boy was I wrong!
I kept eating haphazardly, putting whatever was nearby into my body just to keep from feeling "hungry" and I kept gaining weight while my blood pressure kept getting higher.
I knew something had to be done, but I just couldn't do it on my own. I felt frustrated and was uncomfortable with my weight and it was really getting me down.
I saw ads for the Noom app on tv and read a few articles about it on the internet. I'm skeptical of diets and diet plans in general, but something about the way Noom was set up seemed like it was different. I did some more research, downloaded the app on my phone and decided right away to pay for the full plan. I'm really glad I did.
It's now March and I'm under 160 pounds. In only four months I've lost about 25 pounds and I started during the month when Thanksgiving happens! That first turkey day during the program brought up a lot of issues and anxiety, but with Noom and their system of support, I was able to make it through with flying colors AND enjoy my Thanksgiving with my family. As a matter of fact, there are no restrictions in what you eat on the Noom plan.
Noom is more than just a diet plan. It's like starting a life-long journey toward health with a team of psychologists, food planners, coaches, and other Noomers helping you along the way. You complete simple tasks and challenges each day and by doing these tasks and challenges fully, you eventually see the advantages of healthy eating, resting, working out and managing stress. You track your food, your weight, your physical activity and you check in with your coaches and your group. It's like rehab for health!
I gained so much confidence and learned so much on my journey so far and I highly recommend this program to others. I started cooking and loving food again. I'm working out almost every day (in small increments) using kettlebells, the Just Dance 2019 video game on the Switch and walks with our two adorable rescue dogs. (I didn't go to the gym at all while on the program.) I've actually had to completely overhaul my wardrobe (I lost another 40 pounds in all the clothes I had to donate) and I've been booking completely different kinds of roles for tv and films. Like I said, I'm usually a skeptic about these kinds of programs but Noom really worked for me.
If you're interested in trying it out, you can use this NOOM link to check out the program. If you have any questions about the program, reach out to me here. I'd love to hear from you about your journey to health!
